California Air Resources Board Uses the SCC in Updated Climate Change Plan

California Air Resources Board used the SCC and the social cost of methane in the scoping plan for the state’s updated climate change policy. 1 The Board finalized the scoping plan in November 2017.

Two companion bills were passed in the California legislature in the summer of 2016 to renew the state’s climate change policy, one of which mandates the Air Resources Board to consider the “social costs of greenhouse gases” in the analysis that underlies the new policy’s accompanying regulations. 2
